What this site is
An independent reference for the question gift lists leave out: not what to buy, but whether the amount is right. Every idea carries a price band and a date, set against what people actually spend — because "$50" means something different for a colleague than for a spouse.
How we work
Two kinds of number appear here and we always say which is which. The spending benchmark is quoted from a named survey with its sample and dates. Price bands are our own estimate of what a category costs, labelled as ours, with the date we looked. Where a price is genuinely published we link it.
What we are not
We are not a retailer and we sell nothing. There are no affiliate links on this site, no sponsored entries, and no way to pay for an idea to appear. We also do not publish per-relationship spending figures, because no credible survey publishes them — see the methodology for what that means.
